Rights activists demand release of Pandey

Various rights groups have demanded the immediate release of Nepali journalist Umakanta Pandey, who was detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Protesting at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu today, they demanded the immediate release of journalist Pandey.

The Federation of Nepali Journalists, Amnesty International Nepal, UNMI Nepal and others expressed solidarity in the demonstration organized by Youth Congress Nepal. In the protest rally, FNCCI President Bipul Pokharel accused Pandey of being detained on the basis of writing on social media.
