RPP to withdraw support and leave government

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to withdraw its support and thereby leave the government.

A joint meeting of the party's central work execution committee and the parliamentary party held this morning decided to withdraw itself from the government, are reviewing the latest developments in the presidential election, said RPP leader Rajaram Shrestha. The party has also decided to withdraw the support given to the provincial governments.

The party's meeting on Friday had discussed about remaining neutral in the presidential election in order to establish the issues raised by the party. It was also decided neither to support or second any of the candidates standing in the election for the post of the President.

Filing of nominations for the post of the President is taking place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm today, while the voting takes place on March 9.
