Police arrested a youth on the charge of raping a five-year-old girl in Godawari Municipality of Lalitpur district, on Tuesday.

The arrested has been identified as Ram Ashish Sada (20) of Sambhunath Municipality-2 in Saptari district.

Sada allegedly raped the minor in an under-construction hotel building at Motichaur in Godawari-3, on Sunday evening. Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Badegaun-based Metropolitan Police SEctor arrested the Sada for further investigation into the case.

Likewise, police in Sunsari district on Tuesday arrested an elderly man on the charge of raping a nine-year-old girl in Itahari Sub-metropolitan City.

The accused has been identified as Bhabiraj Damai (67) of Sunaulo Tole in Itahari-3.

Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Itahari-based Area Police Office apprehended Damai.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed the police.
