Sapu disease that is caused by white butterfly has been detected in Gulmi. Gulmi Eye Treatment Centre has referred four patients diagnosed with the disease to Bhairahawa-based Ranambika Eye Hospital.
Out of them, one patient is from Malika Rural Municipality, one is of Gulmi Darbar Rural Municipality while two are of Musikot Municipality.
They provided primary treatment after they were affected by the disease and referred the patients to Bhairahawa hospital, said Surya Bahadur Basnet, Eye Officer at the Eye Treatment Center.
The seven patients who came in contact were advised to go directly to Bhairahawa, the centre said.
Even now, three to four people who are diagnosed with the disease visit the centre daily, said Basnet.
Suspected patients should visit the hospital immediately, he requested. If disobeyed, one could lose his/her sight, added Basnet.
