HUMLA: The Himalayan district of Humla has experienced its first snowfall of the year.

The snow began falling last night, following a change in weather since Sunday evening and a windstorm that began in the afternoon.

As of this morning, three inches of snow have accumulated in the district headquarters, Simkot, while one foot of snow has settled in Limi and other high-altitude areas in North Namkha Rural Municipality, according to Log Bohara, a staff member at the Limi Health Post.

Farmers in the region are pleased with the delayed snowfall this year. Many people in Humla are optimistic that the weather will improve after the snowfall, which they believe will support successful farming.

The snowfall is seen as a positive sign for wheat, barley, and yam cultivation.

The district headquarters, Simkot, and the surrounding hills are now blanketed in white, and life has been disrupted.

Areas such as Chala, Limi, Hilsa, Yari, and other regions in North Namkha have been particularly affected.

The cold has intensified with the snowfall, and temperatures in Humla have already dropped below freezing.
