Speaker, political leaders, diplomatic missions chiefs visit Baluwatar to console bereaved family

The House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker, the National Assembly (NA) Chair, chiefs of various political parties, and representatives of diplomatic missions on Friday expressed sorrow over the demise of Sita Dahal, the CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and spouse of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma visited the Prime Minister at his official residence in Baluwatar to extend condolences to the PM for the loss of his spouse.

Similarly, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R Thompson, paid tributes to the late Sita Dahal in Baluwatar.

Prior to this, Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Communications and Technology Rekha Sharma, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati and Minister for Urban Development Sita Gurung visited the Prime Minister to extend heartfelt condolences to the Prime Minister.

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, leader Dr Sashanka Koirala and other leaders and workers reached Baluwatar to console the Prime Minister and his family.

CPN (UML) Vice Chair Bishnu Prasad Poudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Chandra Nembang and others met with the Prime Minister with their condolence messages.

Karnali Province Chief Tilak Pariyar, Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma, CPN (Maoist Centre) deputy general secretary Janardan Sharma and leader Hitraj Pandey were at Baluwatar to console the head of the government.

Communist Party of Nepal general secretary Netra Bikram Chand and spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Bishwakarma, Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane and party's leaders including lawmaker Shobhita Gautam visited the bereaved family.

According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, over 5,000 people reached Baluwatar to console the Prime Minister and his family.
