Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithivi Subba Gurung has claimed that a solid foundation was laid for making Gandaki Province a prosperous one.

CM Gurung, who tendered his resignation from the post on Sunday, issued a press statement and said that the government had started good practices of governing by taking the opposition parties into confidence.

Stating that he could not perform well due to the political bickering, CM Gurung added that an unfavourable environment was enabled for the Province Government due to lack of supports from the political party which contested in the last election through the same manifesto. Gurung was referring to poor cooperation from the CPN Maoist Centre.

He said that the public had given Nepali Congress the mandate to be in the opposition and CPN-UML to run the government in the Gandaki Province but the NC did not behave as per the expectation of the public.

Stating that the provincial government had met the expectations of the public, Gurung claimed that the Gandaki Province had emerged as the best province among six other provinces.

According to him, naming the Province and determining its capital on the consensus of all political parties in and out of the government was the exemplary milestone achieved by the Gandaki Province.

Establishment of Province Public Service Commission, Gandaki University, Province Policy and Planning Commission, Gandaki Province Training Academy, Province Sports Council, IT Park, Lake Conservation and Development Authority, Gandaki Technical Education and Commercial Academy, Gandaki Province Science and Technology Academy and Province Academy among others are the major accomplishments of the government led by him, the statement said.
