Swiss Ambassador to Nepal, Elizabeth von Kepler arrived at Sakela Rural Municipality of Khotang to observe Mundhum trail – one of the 100 tourism destinations set by the Nepal government.
A team of Swiss Ambassador Elizabeth came to Sakela to observe Mundhum Trail. The trail construction has been initiated so as to promote tourism in attractive areas of Khotang, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha.
Sakela Rural Municipality Arjun Kumar Khadka shared that Ambassador Elizabeth came to Khotang to observe tourism hotspot of Sakela-3, Fidim, Tawabhanjyang as it is the entry point of departure for Mundhum Trail.
"We held a discussion with Swiss Ambassador on the status of the overall development process, especially the matters related to tourism promotion", he said. During the discussion, Ambassador Elizabeth said the Swiss government would extend its necessary support for the under-construction trail.
Sakela chair Khadka and deputy chair Sarita Khadka had welcomed Swiss Ambassador Elizabeth.
The Ambassador-led team which arrived at Sakela rural municipality on Tuesday had moved to Chakhewa Bhanjyang through Temke from Tawabhanjyang.
The concept of Mundhum Trail was put forth in 2018 AD to contribute to promote tourism in the attractive places of Khotang, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha.
Mundhum trail is under construction at the cost of Rs 9.14 million with 30 per cent investment of local government, 35 per cent of the provincial government and 35 per cent of the Swiss government.
