Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said it is time to pay special attention from the concerned sectors to retain human resources within country by creating jobs for them. Quality education should be ensured at higher level within country, he stressed.

Addressing the 28th convocation ceremony of the Kathmandu University on Thursday, PM Deuba reminded that thousands of Nepali youths are leaving country daily to pursue quality education at higher level abroad. With this, the country is losing talent and cream human resources on the one hand and the exodus has caused capital flight of millions of rupees on the other, he shared the problem.

He however appreciated that the Kathmandu University was playing a significant role to control the Nepali youths' outflow to some extent by providing quality education at higher level. Even the foreign students were attracted to Nepal for higher study at KU, which he believed, had made Nepal known to the international educational arena.

"I believe the KU will establish collaboration with other national and foreign universities and further enhance its education quality, thereby earning credibility," PM Deuba mentioned. He also said KU was creating creative and talent human resources to contribute to the national economy and social development. It is a matter of pride that KU's products are holding plum jobs in the country and abroad.

He suggested the university that it focused on academic study and research by staying away from political wrangling. Research and innovation should be whetted to enhance quality, PM Deuba underscored.

The PM also suggested the KU that it launched programmes and research on the topics as identification and development of minerals, production of green hydrogen, hydropower, environment-friendly urban management, medicinal herbs, and mitigation of climate change impact.

On a different note, PM Deuba said country was poised to get new government which would bring necessary policy and programmes required for the development of quality education.
