Parsa District Police Office (DPO) on Wednesday afternoon arrested two people in charge of submitting false details to acquire Nepali citizenship from Birgunj Metropolitan City-13.

Those arrested have been identified as Dhurup Prasad Patel (51) of Bahadarmai Municipality-2 in Parsa and Sita Patel (28) of India, currently residing in Bahadarmai-2.

Patel had obtained Nepali citizenship under a false identity of Kabita Kumari from the District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa. The citizenship was issued to Sita Patel by DAO with the number (34-01-70-10352) on 26 December-2013. After getting the information that citizenship was obtained by presenting fake details, security personnel deployed from the Shreepur-based Ward Police Office nabbed Sita and Dhurup, who had claimed himself as her father.

They have been charged under the Citizenship case and further investigation is underway after extending seven days of the custody from the District Court, informed DPO.
