Police arrested two persons in possession of a tiger skin from Baijnath Rural Municipality-4 in Banke district on Thursday afternoon.
The arrested have been identified as Dambar Budha (27), a local resident of Mellekh Rural Municipality-3, and Nanda Budha (35), a local resident of Ramroshan Rural Municipality-5 in Achham district.
Acting on a tip-off, Kohalpur-based Area Police Office personnel nabbed them with the skin during a routine check.
Further investigation into the matter is being carried out, informed the police.
Police arrested two persons in possession of a tiger skin from Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality on Tuesday night.
The arrested have been identified as Jitendra Shahi (19), a local resident of Bhairabi Rural Municipality-3 in Dailkeh district, and Santosh Kunwar (31), a local resident of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan-9 in Dang district.
They were riding on a scooter with vehicle registration number RA 4 PA 6504. Acting on a tip-off, joint security personnel deployed from the Banke-based District Police Office and Kohalpur-based Area Police Office nabbed them with the skin in their possession during a routine vehicle check. The police recovered the skin from the luggage compartment of the scooter.
Further investigation into the case is underway and they have been tried under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act, 2029.
