Two women arrested on human trafficking case in Pokhara

Police arrested two women involved in a human trafficking case in Pokhara on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Gaumati Gurung (53), a hotel owner and a local resident of Rambazar in Pokhara Metropolitan-10, and Aitimaya Gurung (40), a local resident of Rupa Rural Municipality-10.

They allegedly lured the victims by promising to employ them in a hotel. After a couple of days, they forced the victims into immoral activities with customers visiting the hotel in Rambazar. They also collected money from the customers.

Joint security personnel deployed from the Kaski-based District Police Office (DPO) and Rambazar-based Ward Police Office nabbed them after receiving complaints from the victims.

Meanwhile, the accused duo have been charged under the Human Trafficking and Smuggling Control case. Further investigation into the case is being carried out, informed DPO, Kaski.
