Unprecedented rainfall has caused significant damage to a hydropower project, roads, and agriculture in the Myagdi district.

Incessant rainfall over the past few days has led to floods and landslides have occurred in many places, affecting the locals celebrating the Dashain festival.

Meanwhile, the power supply has been interrupted after the floods damaged the 35 KW Inglekhola micro hydropower station located in Gurja of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-1. As a result, 265 households in Gurja have been left in darkness.

Likewise, most of the roads in the district have been blocked due to the rainfall taking place for the past four days. The roads from district headquarters Beni to Beni-Darbang and Beni-Jomsom have been blocked.

Meanwhile, it snowed for the first time in the Lekali area of the district in early October. There has been snowfall on the hills near Gurja village since Friday afternoon. According to residents, this is the first time that it has snowed in October.

Due to unseasonal rains and storms in Myagdi, paddy crops grown on hundreds of hectares of land have been damaged. According to the agricultural technician at the local level, the paddy crop has been damaged due to rain and wind.

The near-harvest paddy has been damaged by the wind blowing it down and rainwater soaking it. According to Agriculture Knowledge Centre, paddy has been cultivated on 3,892 hectares of land throughout the district.
