The weather remained generally completely cloudy throughout the country in the last three days causing light to moderate rainfall in most places and even heavy/very heavy rain at few places.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said the incessant rainfall was due to the influence of the active monsoon wind and the existence of the monsoon low-pressure system near the Tarai region.

When asked regarding the influence of the monsoon wind and when the weather was likely to improve, a meteorologist at the Division, Bibhuti Pokharel, said compared to the last few days, the monsoon wind's influence will be decreasing in the coming days. However, although the influence of the monsoon wind will lessen, it will remain for some days more.

He added that it cannot be said when exactly the weather will improve even in the coming days. However, the influence of the monsoon wind will likely weaken compared to the previous days.

Meteorologist Pokharel said still there was the possibility of occurrence of heavy rain at one or two places of the country despite the diminishing impact of the monsoon wind.

According to him, although the weather will start becoming clear towards the afternoon and evening in the coming days, the chances of it becoming intermittently cloudy again with the occurrence of rain were still there.

In the case of Kathmandu Valley, it was partly to completely cloudy with light to moderate rain for the last three days. Kathmandu received 66 millimetres of rainfall today. It received 46 millimetres of rain on Friday. Simara received the highest amount of rainfall at 153 millimetres followed by Biratnagar 107 millimetres, Janakpur 85 millimetres, Taplejung 58 millimetres Pokhara 55 millimetres and Bhairahawa 53 millimetres.

The maximum temperature in Kathmandu is 23.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum 19.8 degrees Celsius today.
