Woman convicted of banking offences arrested in Surkhet

A woman who had been convicted of banking offences was arrested by police from Surkhet district today. The woman had been absconding for the past four months.

The accused has been identified as Parbati Shahi (32), a resident of Dharapani of Birendranagar Municipality-1 in Sukhet district.

Surkhet District Court had convicted Shahi of banking offences and sentenced her to two years imprisonment on March 12, informed District Police Office (DPO), Surkhet.

Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from Surkhet-based DPO nabbed the accused. The accused has been kept in custody at the DPO at present.

She will be presented to Surkhet District Court to implement the decision after undergoing an antigen test for the coronavirus, informed DPO, Surkhet.
