Woman involved in opium trade arrested

District Police Office, Baglung has arrested Rakhilak Ghartimagar, 33 of Puthauttarganga Gaonpalika-2 of Rukumpur for her involvement in the illicit drug opium trade. Ghartimagar, who had absconded after dropping 10 kg of opium at Nisi Valkot Sandeep Guest House in Dhorpatan Municipality-1 of Baglung on November 19, 2020 AD, was arrested on Saturday, police said.

According to her name, Sarita Ghartimagar, who was staying in the room of the guest house, Ghartimagar had left the digital fork, coin, SIM card, mobile phone, clothes and other items used for weighing along with opium and fled.

After the incident, the police have recovered opium and other items and started searching for the absconding Ghartimagar. According to Indra Bahadur Rai, Information Officer of JIPRA and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ghartimagar was taken into custody while she was hiding in Sisne Gaonpalika-5 of Rukumpur after a year and a half. He said that Ghartimagar was arrested with the help of District Police Office, Rukumpur. According to the police, the Baglung District Court has extended the time limit by five days and further investigation has started on Ghartimagar.
