The faction of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP) led by Upendra Yadav has accused the faction led by Mahantha Thakur of submitting a "slanderous letter" to the Election Commission Nepal.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Upendra Yadav-Baburam Bhattarai-led faction made such allegations.

Thakur on June 15 had submitted a letter to the Election Commission, attached with the minute of the party meeting held on December 22, last year, saying that he had the right of manipulating the executive committee, verification and conducting the official correspondence of the party.

Chief of the party's publicity department, Dambar Khatiwada, who is close to Yadav has accused Mahanta Thakur of filing false details with the Election Commission.

The statement said that all the decisions of the Central Executive Committee held on December 22 was made public through a statement signed by the duo chairpersons Yadav and Thakur the same day. "All the decisions of the meeting had been issued to the executive members, central members, central council members, state committees, district committees and all fraternal organizations by joint signature," the statement read.

The statement has further asserted that the proposal to give the right to change and reorganise the central executive to Thakur was not on the agenda of the meeting and no such decision had been taken.

Yadav faction has issued the statement after the Election Commission refused to recognise his faction as per Section 51 of the Election Commission Act. Yadav had approached the commission to be recognised as per Sections 43-44 of the Election Commission Act on Friday.
