At least 123 leaders and cadres of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) who were taking part in protest rallies to enforce the shutdown have been arrested from across the country by this afternoon.
Central Police Spokesperson and Information Officer, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar told NepalNews that as many as 123 leaders and cadres of NCP including 79 from the valley have been detained for violating the law and order.
Likewise, the protesters pelted four public transportation vehicles with stones while a taxi was set ablaze in Samakhushi, SSP Kunwar said and added that several others have been detained on the charge of vandalising six vehicles across the country outside the valley.
However, according to President of National Youth Association and central member of NCP (NCP), Ram Kumar Sapkot, at least 73 leaders and cadres of the party have been arrested from various places by this afternoon.
The Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP (NCP) today has called the general strike against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the appointments in the constitutional bodies.
Leader Sapkot told NepalNews that the protest rallies have organised at 11 various points in the three districts of Kathmandu Valley from where the participants were arrested.
National Youth Association President Sapkota who has taken part in the rally at Koteshwor said the protest will be continued till 5:00 pm. The cadres and leaders taking to the streets will gather to attend a corner meeting in the evening. He also informed that NCP chair duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal had met at Koteshwor in the morning.
Meanwhile, Police have proceeded with the investigations on the arrested cadres, SSP informed.
