The Nepal Army has taken charge of the security of areas critical given the near-coming local level elections in the district. Accordingly, the Nepal Army has taken charge of the security of Chitwan and Bharatpur airports.

According to Chief District Officer Asman Tamang, the army has taken responsibility for security in important agencies as per the decision of the District Security Committee. The Nepal Army will take responsibility for security in these areas till May 20.

CDO Tamang said that the army was given the responsibility of security as there was not enough human resource in the police organization for the election. Nepal Police will oversee internal security management.
