Elections will be held to select the leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party in Madhesh province.

Elections are going to be held on Thursday after the leaders of the three parties did not give up their claims. Newly elected state MP Krishna Prasad Yadav, who is also the state president, Ramsaroj Yadav, leader of the outgoing parliamentary party, and Janardhan Chhetri are contenders for the party leader.

To select the leader of the party, the Congress formed a three-member election committee under the coordination of the state vice-chairman Chandrashekhar Kumar Yadav on December 22.

Nitesh Gupta, head of Congress propaganda, informed that the election committee has not selected the leader of the party through the efforts of consensus.

The meeting of the election committee held at the party office in Janakpurdham said that the first voter list will be published today, Wednesday.

The final list of voters is scheduled to be published by 2:30 pm on Thursday. After that, voting will take place from three to four o'clock.

Congress is the second largest party in the Madhesh state assembly with 22 seats.
