Congress takes lead in Gokarneshwar

Deepak Risal of Nepali Congress has taken the lead in the ongoing counting of votes in Gokarneshwor Municipality by getting 8,109 votes.

 Uddhav Bista of the CPN-UML has polled 7,536 votes in the ongoing local level election on May 13. Similarly, Sannani Lama of the CPN-UML got 7,590 votes while Shanti Nepal of her nearest Nepali Congress got 7,552 votes, Nepal was also the deputy chief before this.

n Gokarneshwor, which has nine wards, Jayaram Mahat, who has so far fielded independent candidates in ward no 4, in wards 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7, has won by UML in ward no. 5 by Congress. According to the latest results, Keshav Gurung of UML has emerged victorious in Ward No. 7. The counting of votes in Ward No. 8 is underway in the municipality. The counting of votes in Ward No. 9 is pending.

There are 33 thousand 989 voters in the municipality. Out of which 24 thousand 242 votes were cast. This is 71.32 percent of the total electorate. In the municipality, the Congress had earlier won in six wards including the mayor and deputy mayor. This time, the Nepali Congress has lost in wards 1 and 3, and 6 of the municipality which it had won in the past. UML has won in all the three wards along with the panel. UML has also won the chairmanship of ward no. 2, which was earlier elected by RPP. The results of seven out of nine wards of the municipality have been made public.
