The CPN-Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party have chosen to preserve the alliance and allow the US aid project Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC) to be approved.
Both parties have backed away from voting in opposition of MCC, as the alliance may collapse, and will now create a conducive environment for approval of MCC. They have already conveyed this information to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
"As the alliance has to be maintained now, we have to cooperate when the decision is submitted for MCC approval," a Maoist center leader said. "The prime minister has been informed. The MCC is likely to be approved in the next meeting of the parliament.
The meeting of the House of Representatives has been called on Sunday.
