The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to vote against the MCC agreement if it is tabled in the parliament without some amendments.

A meeting of the parliamentary parties held at Singha Durbar today under the chairmanship of party president and parliamentary party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has decided not to vote in favor of the MCC agreement without amending unequal conditions and provisions against the national interest.

"The MCC agreement cannot be moved forward in the status quo, it cannot be passed. It has been decided to vote against the forced MCC table,” said Dev Prasad Gurung, chief whip of the CPN-MC after the meeting. "Currently, the opposition party is obstructing the parliament. The Maoists have concluded that no agenda can move forward without insisting on running the house,” he said.

The meeting also decided to urge the opposition CPN (UML) to run the house. The Maoist meeting has concluded that the MCC agreement should be taken forward only after reaching a national consensus. "Without national consensus, MCC cannot move forward. There must be a consensus among the parties in the alliance. It cannot move forward without consensus among the parties," said Chief Whip Gurung.

He said that the government would not be able to move forward by acting alone without the decision of the five-party alliance.
