National Independent Party candidate Dr Swarnim Wagle has won the by-election of Tanahun-1. He won with a margin of more than 14,000 votes.
While Wagle got 34 thousand 480 votes, Gobinda Bhattarai of Nepali Congress got 20 thousand 92 votes. Similarly, Sarbendra Khanal of CPN-UML, who was in third place, got only 8,555 votes.
More than 65,000 votes were cast in the by-election held in Tanahun-1 on Sunday.
