KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, is scheduled to speak in the House of Representatives today regarding the removal of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising.

During Wednesday’s parliamentary session, opposition parties—including the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), and CPN (Unified Socialist)—demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister over Ghising’s dismissal. However, the session was disrupted as opposition lawmakers insisted on a response, prompting Speaker Devraj Ghimire to adjourn the meeting until Thursday.

CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula clarified that Minister Khadka, rather than the Prime Minister, would address the issue. “This is not a matter that requires the Prime Minister’s direct response. If he starts answering every minor issue, it will create complications,” Bartaula told Khabarhub.

Despite this, opposition parties continue to press for a statement from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and have warned of further parliamentary obstruction if he does not address their concerns.
