COVID infected will also be able to cast their votes in the National Assembly elections. On Wednesday, the Election Commission approved the 19-point criteria and said that arrangements will be made for the infected to cast their votes as well.
"Even if the person is COVID infected, it will not be possible for another person to cast his or her vote," said Komal Prasad Dhamala, an assistant spokesperson for the commission. According to him, separate ballot boxes will be provided at the polling booths for the infected people to cast their votes.
Elections for the 19-member National Assembly are being held on January 26. The National Assembly consists of state members and local level chief and deputy chief voters. The Election Commission has set up polling booths in the provincial capitals of all the seven provinces.
According to the commission, a team of health workers will be deployed at each polling station. And arrangements will be made to check the fever of all those who enter the polling station.
