The High Court, Pokhara has ordered a recount of votes in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 under the local-level elections held on May 13 last year.

One of the candidates who contested for the post of ward president, Shiv Prasad Timilsina, of Nepali Congress, had won by a margin of three votes.

His closest opponent CPN (UML)‘s Pushkal Thapa had filed an application in the high court demanding a recount of votes.

Information officer of the court Bishnu Prasad Acharya shared that a division bench of High Court Chief Justice Dilliraj Acharya and Judge Rishiraj Bhandari annulled the previous count and ordered a recount.

The provincial election office in Pokhara has been ordered to manage the human resources for the counting and the registrar of the high court to designate the location.
