Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand called on Chairman of the ruling coalition party CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Chairman of the main opposition party CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli this morning to discuss issues including the approval of the US Assistance Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) tabled in Parliament.
The Home Minister's Secretariat has confirmed that Home Minister Khand had a meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Dahal at his residence in Khumaltar and UML Chairman Oli at Balkot. During the meeting, they discussed the current political situation in the country, stopping the obstruction in the House of Representatives and approving the MCC.
After the MCC was presented in the House of Representatives on February 20, intensive discussions have been underway between the ruling and opposition parties to get it passed. According to the MCC agreement, approval from the parliament is scheduled for Feb 28. The government has continued its efforts to get the consent of all political parties for approval within that period.
