KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is taking place today.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, the House of Representatives will meet at 11 am, while the National Assembly will convene at 1:15 pm.
The potential agenda for the House of Representatives includes tabling the ‘Banking Offences and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080,’ along with a message received from the National Assembly.
Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, will present the proposal for the ‘Nepal Legal Practitioners Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081,’ which originated in the National Assembly.
The Parliament Secretariat has also indicated that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present a proposal for discussion on the ‘Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Bill, 2079,’ which originated in the National Assembly, alongside the report from the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.
Additionally, the agenda includes presenting a proposal to pass the ‘Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Bill, 2081.’
The National Assembly’s meeting today will include a possible agenda of question-and-answer sessions with ministers from four ministries.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, the ministers concerned will answer oral questions related to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
The meeting will also feature a possible presentation by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of the Muslim Commission’s annual report for the fiscal year 2080/81 to the House.
Kamala Pant, Chair of the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee, will present a proposal for discussion on the report concerning the need for legal provisions related to the rights and development of the Dalit community, 2081, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
