KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party, under the leadership of Dr. CK Raut, has announced a meeting of its National Council Committee.
Spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav confirmed that the meeting is set for Friday, March 28, at 9 am in Min-Baneshwor, following a decision made during the Janamat Party Central Secretariat Committee meeting.
Yadav shared that the primary focus of the meeting will be to discuss the ongoing unification talks with the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).
The two parties are currently engaged in discussions about the unification process, with the proposed name for the new party being the Nagarik Janamat Party.
It has already been agreed that Dr. Raut will serve as the party’s chairperson. NUP’s patron, Resham Chaudhary, will take on the role of patron, while NUP chairperson Ranjita Shrestha will be the co-chairperson.
Additionally, talks are underway to adopt NUP’s ‘Dhakiya’ as the new party’s election symbol.
Spokesperson Yadav also mentioned that a six-member task force from both parties is working on finalizing the party statute.
