Janamat Party to discuss merger with Nagarik Unmukti Party

KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party, led by Dr. CK Raut, has scheduled a National Council Committee meeting to discuss party unification today.

According to spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav, the meeting will take place today (Friday) in Min-Baneshwor, following a decision made by the party’s Central Secretariat Committee.

The primary agenda is to deliberate on the ongoing merger talks with the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).

The proposed unified party is expected to be named Nagarik Janamat Party, with Dr. Raut as the chairperson, Resham Chaudhary as the patron, and Ranjita Shrestha as the co-chairperson.

Discussions are also in progress to adopt NUP’s ‘Dhakiya’ as the election symbol, while a six-member task force from both parties is working on finalizing the party’s statute.
