The faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP) led by Chairperson Mahanta Thakur has decided to vote in favour of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Chairperson Mahanta Thakur has hinted at the possibility of joining the coalition government if it meets their demands.

Inaugurating the party central office at Babar Mahal in Kathmandu on Friday, party Chairperson Thakur shared that there were no formal talks held with the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government yet and the incumbent government had not sent any proposal in this regard.

Also unfurling the party’s flag on the occasion, Thakur clarified that first, they would mull on joining the coalition government since their party was a newly registered one. “Our party has just been registered. If the government summons us, we will put forth our matters. Whether to join the government or not, that will be decided thereafter.”

Similarly, LSP’s executive member Keshav Jha, quoting Thakur's saying, echoed that if Prime Minister Deuba proposes them of coming on board the incumbent government, they will discuss the matter and decide accordingly.

According to him, the newly formed party was yet to fix its viewpoint of forging an alliance in the upcoming elections and the party Chairperson Thakur had already made it clear that they would discuss the matter after the election date was announced.

The LSP got accreditation from the Election Commission of Nepal last Wednesday. Present in the inaugural of party office were senior leaders Rajendra Mahato, Sarat Singh Bhandari among other executive members of the party.

The meeting of LSP’s executive committee is slated for Saturday which will form its viewpoint on contemporary issues.
