KATHMANDU: The Maoist Center has delayed its Postal Highway-focused Tarai-Madhes awareness campaign by another five days.
The postponement is due to preparations for a large public demonstration organized by the Socialist Front, which includes the Maoist Center. The demonstration, set for March 28 in Kathmandu, is in support of the republic, as stated by Govinda Acharya, press advisor to Chairman Prachanda.
The campaign will resume on March 29.
While no events are scheduled for today, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is currently in Chitwan and is expected to arrive in Kathmandu this evening.
A meeting is planned for this evening at Singha Durbar, where Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, ruling Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Prachanda, leader of the main opposition party, will gather.
The awareness campaign, which started in Kachankawal, Jhapa, was briefly paused after reaching Rautahat.
The Maoist Center has reported that the campaign has already covered Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, and Chitwan.
The campaign will continue through Nawalpur, Nawalparasi West, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Bardiya, Banke, and Kailali, eventually reaching Kanchanpur.
