Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact (MCC) project should be carried out keeping in view the interest of Nepal and the Nepali people.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Socialist Press Organization Nepal Kailali in Dhangadhi today, he said that the issue of land ownership of the project and the right of employment of Nepalis should be ensured in the context of MCC.
"Nepal's right to monetary assets and property should be protected," he said. "The project should be a project of pure financial assistance." If the project is specifically linked to a grant, it should be a grant. Chairman Nepal made it clear that his party could not ratify the MCC agreement in the status quo.
