Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala has said that the 14th general convention of the party has paved a way for women to lead the party in the near future.
In a statement issued today, Koirala, who was recently defeated as the party's vice-president, said that hope and enthusiasm were seen on the faces of women delegates attending the party's general convention from every corner of the country. "The issue I have raised for equal participation of women in the Congress party and in every single body of the state has found a place in the national and international arena," the statement said.
Leader Koirala has also expressed his commitment to move forward in the struggle for equality by remaining committed to the issue in the future. Stating that he has always been inspired by the ideals of consensus, cooperation, and unity of Girija Prasad Koirala, she said that there was a need for consensus, cooperation, and unity in the party and the country.
Leader Koirala has congratulated Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung who have won by competing for the post of Deputy Chairman and wished them a successful tenure.
