Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who reached Lumbini to lay the foundation stone for Lumbini Cable Car Project is scheduled to address the mass meeting organised in Butwal, Rupandehi district today.

This is the third time Oli, the Prime Minister and also the chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is going to address the mass meeting since the government dissolved the House of Representatives. President Bidya Devi Bhandari on December 20, on the recommendation of the cabinet, approved the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) and announced the mid-term polls for April 30 and May 10. However, the party’s rival faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal has been protesting the government’s move to dissolve the HoR.

Recently, the Dahal-Nepal faction had enforced general strike throughout the country.

The following day, PM Oli-led faction had organised the mass meeting at Durbarmarga in Kathmandu.

Both factions of the NCP have been frequently organising mass meeting throughout the country — one announcing election while another criticising the government’s move to dissolve the HoR, calling it unconstitutional.

Both factions have been claiming to be the authentic Communist party and tussling one another for the election symbol ‘Sun’.
