KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been released from police custody in Kaski after spending 84 days behind bars.
Lamichhane was granted bail by the Kaski District Court, which set the amount at Rs 6.5 million. He was freed after submitting the bail through a bank guarantee.
Following the court’s decision, Lamichhane, along with the other accused individuals, will undergo medical examinations at Fishtail Hospital in Pokhara after completing the required legal procedures.
“Currently, the Chair and the other accused are at the Kaski District Court. They will be taken to Fishtail Hospital for health checkups in about an hour,” said RSP spokesperson Manish Jha.
“The court formalities are still ongoing, and the medical exams are scheduled for today,” he added.
Sources indicate that Lamichhane’s release is contingent upon his commitment to appear in person for ongoing cases in other district courts.
Judge Nitij Rai of the Kaski District Court had ordered the release of Lamichhane and six other accused on bail after a week-long detention hearing.
