KATHMANDU: President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, called on Speaker Devraj Ghimire at his office in Singha Durbar today.

On the occasion, the RSP President called for lifting of the suspension of his lawmaker post. About two months ago, Lamichhane had filed a petition with Speaker Ghimire demanding the lifting of his suspension, stating that he had been released from jail after submitting bail.

RSP Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha said they met with the Speaker today to remind him of this very demand.
Vice President Dol Prasad Aryal, Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar, Whip Nisha Dangi and leaders Sobita Gautam, Ashok Chaudhary, Shiva Nepali, Dr Toshima Karki, among others, were present in the meeting.

Objecting to the practice of suspending the lawmaker from their post as soon as the case is filed against the lawmaker, they urged Speaker Ghimire for further discussion on the issue.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat had issued a notice on December 23, 2024 suspending Lamichhane from his post following a money laundering case against him.
