KATHMANDU: The Socialist Front Nepal, a group of political parties including CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist) and Nepal Communist Party, has urged the government to resolve the problems of the agitating teachers through dialogue.
Issuing a press release on Thursday, Front coordinator Netra Bikram Chand urged the government to fulfill the genuine demands raised by the teachers, reform the education system, guarantee the right to education guaranteed by the constitution and ensure equal access and quality of education to all.
The Front expressed solidarity to the ongoing movement of teachers at Maitighar Mandal, Kathmandu. The teachers have been agitating since April 2, demanding the formulation of a new School Education Act, promotion of temporary teachers and school employees.
Timely promotion of permanent teachers, increase in salary and grades, permanency through internal competition, reform in pension system are other demands.
