KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Supreme Court on Thursday declined to issue an interim order reinstating former Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising, following a three-day hearing. The bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityananda Pandey ruled that the case will be prioritized but did not grant stay order to reinstate Ghising.

Ghising had filed a writ petition challenging his dismissal, naming the government, the Energy Ministry, and newly appointed NEA chief Hitendra Dev Shakya as respondents. The government had dismissed Ghising and reappointed Shakya earlier this week.

Shakya, who was removed from the same post four years ago, had also petitioned the court to resolve his previous dismissal before assuming office again.
