Mahesh Bartaula of CPN (UML) has been elected by defeating Birodh Khatiwada, who became a candidate from the Democratic Left Alliance in Makwanpur's Representative Assembly Constituency No. 2.
UML candidate Bartaula got 34,916 votes while Khatiwada got 30,396 votes. Khatiwada, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives four times, was prevented from winning for the fifth time by his former worker Bartaula.
