Understanding to be forged among political parties: Speaker Sapkota

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, has expressed confidence that understanding will be forged among the political parties with the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives.

Talking to mediapersons in Chitwan today, he said the parliament would be run regularly. Stating that the government has already recommended to the President to call a session of the parliament, he expressed the conviction the parliament would run as it ran previously.

“The parliament will run in a regular manner as previously. The political parties will forge understanding through consultation now,” he said.

The Speaker said the parliament business would be run as in the past after discussing it in the meeting of the House Business Management Committee after the President summons the parliament session.

Speaker Sapkota also said that the dispute among the political parties would not affect the parliament process. “I will facilitate in running the House business smoothly. The parliamentary process does not stop due to the dispute of the political parties.”

Replying to a question, he said it would not be appropriate to comment now on the topic of the appointments to various public bodies made by the government at the time when the parliament stood dissolved as this topic was being debated in the court.
