Urge to oppose the claim in the voter list

Election Commission, Karnali State Election Office, Birendranagar, Surkhet has requested to oppose the claim in the voter list or to correct the name.

Informing that the voter list will be published on March 3, the office has requested to submit an application to the concerned ward office and the office of the Chief Registration Officer to correct the error in the published voter list. State Election Officer Durga Prasad Chalise said that various problems including recurrence of names of voters, different names, names appearing in more than one place, deaths should be rectified by March 10.

"In case of death of any person in the published voter list or to remove the name of the disenfranchised voter from the voter list, the family concerned has to apply to the chief registration officer through the concerned ward including death registration in case of death," he said. 

He said that anyone who has reached the age of 18 by April 12 will be able to participate in the voting. He had suggested correcting the names of the voters whose names were changed due to various reasons including filing a complaint against Soko, protesting against the claim, and resettlement.

Stating that the number of voters in Surkhet is estimated to be 240,577 in 2074 BS and the current number is 240,801, State Election Officer Chalise said that there will be 138 polling stations in Surkhet and 263 polling stations in 2074 BS. He said that the number of voters, polling stations and polling booths in all the districts of Karnali would be made available after some time.
