Cabinet decision: Govt endorses National Cyber Security Policy

The government has endorsed the National Cyber Security Policy, 2080. A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday agreed to pass the Policy, according to government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

The Minister shared this information at a press meet organized at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to unveil Cabinet decisions on Wednesday.

Likewise, the meeting agreed to accept the revised Master Plan regarding the Singha Durbar. The document was submitted by the Economic and Infrastructure Committee, the Council of Ministers. The Cabinet also has approved the presentation of the Banking Offences and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080 to the Federal Parliament.

Additionally, the government has granted permission to Nepal Rastra Bank for the minting of 150 million units of five-rupee coins.

It has permitted the upcoming visit of Karnali Province Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma to Switzerland to participate in an event relating to cooperation in financing green programmes in Zurich, Switzerland from September 1 to 2. As per the meeting decision, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal, has been permitted to attend the 'High Level Euro- Asia Regional Review of the Vienna Programme and Action of the LDCs' to be hosted by Thailand in Bangkok on August 22-23.

Similarly, Chief Election Commissioner, Dinesh Thapaliya, will be attending a programme entitled 'Engaging Indigenous People in Election' to be held in Sweden on September 5-6.

The meeting endorsed the Vice President's visit to China to attend the seventh 'China South Asia Exposition China Import and Export Fare' scheduled to be held in Kunming, China on August 16- 20.

The meeting decided to give permission to Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Nagesh Koirala, to attend the programme, '2023 ICMA Annual Conference' scheduled in Texas of the United States of America from September 30 to October 4, shared Communications Minister Sharma.

The government also took the decision to appoint chairpersons and members to determine the compensation for the land and constructed infrastructures within the range of transmission line in Sunsari, Udaypur, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Makawanpur districts under 400 KV Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa transmission line.

Decision was taken to cancel the Nepali citizenship certificate obtained by Aman Chaudhary (Agrawal) and Sofiya Roth Bhandari by descent by submitting fake documents at the District Administration Office, Parsa, on November 10, 2020 and District Administration Office, Kaski, on August 11, 2022, respectively and to take action against those involved in it.

Similarly, the government also decided to accept 21 'remotely piloted aircraft (drones) to be provided to the Home Ministry under 'Security Equipment under grant assistance' by the Public Security Department of Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The government has allowed Bandana Rana to file candidacy to the post of CEDAW committee member for the third round on behalf of Nepal. The third phase membership will be effective from 2025 to 2028. Temporary quotas of 715 gazetted officer level needed for the fiscal year 2080/81 have been accepted by the Cabinet.
