Nepal Astronomical Society has opened the application for the Ninth National Astronomy Olympiad to be held for the year 2022. Suresh Bhattarai, President of the society, informed that students from class 8 to 12 can apply in the program. The program, conducted since 2014, focuses on the identification and promotion of talents of school level students.
The National Astronomy Olympiad will be organized in two categories, junior and senior, keeping the level of learning of the students in mind. Students from class 8-10 will be able to apply for junior category while grade 11 and 12 students can apply for senior category. The first phase of Olympiad / Selection Examination will be held in Itahari, Janakpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Surkhet and Dhangadhi on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 12 noon to 2 pm. Interested students can submit the application form to the coordinator of the province concerned appointed by the society.
Students from the respective provinces will be included in the second phase, i.e. the national phase, on the basis of their performance at the provincial level. Similarly, students who excels in the second phase will be included in the third and final phase. Through the third phase evaluation, the participating students will be recommended for the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad to be conducted this year.
