Nepal Southern Agriculture Science and Technology Park inaugurated

 The Nepal Southern Agriculture Science and Technology Park of the Poverty Alleviation and Partnership Development Centre of the China-South Asian Countries was inaugurated amidst a programme here yesterday.

The park is located in Chitwan-based Agriculture and Forest University.

At the inaugural ceremony, Mayor of Bharatpur metropolis Renu Dahal said agriculture sector covering larger population of Nepal is the mainstay of Nepali economy. "We are hopeful that the project would contribute to address the challenges of climate change, food security and sustainable agriculture development".

She thanked the agronomists of AFU for their cooperation in carrying out scientific research and experimentation aimed at increasing rice production in Nepal.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said the Nepal Southern Agricultural Science and Technology Park has been inaugurated under the China-South Asian Country Poverty Alleviation and Partnership Development Center.

He said the project is in line with the agreement reached between the leaders of China and Nepal during President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal in 2019.

"This project will be successful in promoting exchange and cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade, livelihood improvement, youth exchange and other fields and taking bilateral relations to a new height," he noted.

Ambassador Chen expressed his belief that the joint effort of Nepal and China would boost up the production of paddy in Nepal in next five years.
