WebCon 2022: Promoting innovation in Nepal

The technological scene has been changing rapidly in recent years, with new and young entrepreneurs coming up with innovative ideas every year. It's no surprise that we can feel the impact of our innovation on a daily basis.

In regards to this, WebCon 2022: Tech Startups in Nepal is an initiative by Webpoint Solutions to create a platform to bring together some of Nepal’s brightest minds and start a discussion. It is the first-ever event of its kind organized by a software company with the goal to help IT professionals. This event hopes to bring leaders and aspirants together, with the goal to provide a platform for building connections, sharing ideas, and discussing emerging technologies.

WebCon is a panel discussion event, comprising five panellists and an Emcee. The list of panellists includes reputed names like Sixit Bhatta (Tootle), Rohit Tiwari (Hamrobazar), Amit Agrawal (Khalti), and more. The main objective of WebCon 2022 is to bring together professionals who have experienced the ups and downs of running a successful startup in the Nepali tech scene. The event aims to shine a light on the fact Nepal is still in the infancy of the digital era—not due to the shortage of capable minds, but because it is relatively unexplored.

“Wouldn’t it be cool to find out what it’s like to give life to an idea and call it your startup? Ever wondered how Nepal’s successful startup builders did it? So did we, and that gave birth to the idea of WebCon 2022,” said Praveen Shrestha (Senior Marketing Manager at Webpoint Solutions).

The event will solely focus on discussing the environment of tech startups in Nepal, what it takes to start one, and how to overcome the challenges faced by Nepali entrepreneurs. WebCon 2022 is an invite-only event, and the registration forms are open to the general public on webcon.webpoint.io. The registered applicants will be carefully screened to produce the final list of 120 participants. IT professionals who aspire to open a startup in the near future are given priority. At its core, they believe in equality and encourage participation from diverse backgrounds

The selected event participants will be able to connect with the panellists on a personal level and have in-depth conversations about how an idea takes the form of a plan, and how the professionals execute those plans to produce results. “While it is a panel discussion, we hope to create a podcast-like vibe where the floor is open to a free-flowing conversation,” says Minav Adhikari (Engineering Manager, and the host of WebCon 2022).

We have so many talented individuals and great companies brewing in Nepal, and we see this as an opportunity and our corporate responsibility to provide the needed guidance. At WebCon 2022, we intend to open up conversations about tech startups in Nepal. Our goal is to provide a platform to tell concrete stories of building a tech startup and experiences of dealing with challenges that are unique to Nepal,” says the spokesperson of Webpoint Solutions.

Careful consideration has been put into bringing in panellists from various tech startups in Nepal with a list of questions prepared to get the conversation going. The discussion will last about an hour and a half, after which there will be a Q&A session with the audience.
