Govt. lifts ban on Tiktok

Kathmandu, Aug. 22: The government has decided to allow the use of social networking site Tiktok with conditions.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held Thursday took this decision, according to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had prepared a proposal following the directive of the Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, to treat all the social networking sites on equal footings and prepare needed laws.

The government had imposed a ban on Tiktok in November 2023 stating that social ills were fuelled through the usage of Tiktok.
