KATHMANDU: All the Nepali peace keeping forces deployed in an African country, Congo, at the call of the United Nations (UN) are safe, said the Nepali Army (NA).
NA Spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC told RSS that there are altogether 1,130 Nepali peacekeepers working in different capacities in three places across Congo and all of them are safe now.
“Our peace keeping forces are safe in Congo. There is some tension ongoing in a place called Goma of Congo. The UN has already relocated those human resources not needed immediately to the safe places,” Spokesperson KC added.
Additional security arrangements will be made as per the UN’s instructions in the wake of the tension ensued in Congo.
It may be noted that a rebel group named M23 is on the prowl in Congo for some days, leading to clashes between the government forces and the rebels.
