Newly appointed IGP Thapa presented with rank insignia

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa has been conferred with the rank insignia of the police chief at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.

At a special ceremony organized at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi awarded the rank insignia to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police Thapa. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening had decided to appoint Thapa as the 31st IGP of Nepal Police.

Receiving the rank insignia, Inspector General Thapa expressed his commitment to make necessary reforms, saying that Nepal Police is not free from the reflection of many characters and aspects, both good and bad seen in the society.

He stated that he has worked with integrity since he joined the police service and pledged to continue working with integrity while leading the organization.

Presenting the rank insignia to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police Thapa, Home Secretary Duwadi expressed confidence that he would easily resolve the new challenges arising from various criminal incidents.

He said that the ministry would always provide positive support to maintain peace and security in the country. IGP Thapa began his police career as an Inspector on September 4, 1995, marking the start of his longstanding service in Nepal Police.
